We challenge all students to continue our journey for the “love of reading” and find joy in learning through reading!
This summer, we strongly encourage all students to read 15 minutes per day. Rather than require our students in Grades 1 - 6 to read from a selected list of books, we have provided a great list of suggested books. We want students to select the books they would like to read as we don’t underestimate the power of choice in learning.

SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS
Due 1st day of school, and will count as your first graded assignment.
A study indicated that 91% of kids say they are likely to finish a book they have picked out themselves. We strongly encourage you to help your child find a book (on the list provided or visit your local library) that matches his or her interests. Building on a student’s interest can stimulate an interest in reading, even among reluctant and struggling readers.
Having books all around the house or while traveling in the car are great ways to encourage your kids to pick one up and read. Audio and eBooks are great options too!
Did you know that children who read widely and frequently are higher achievers? When children spend more time reading for fun, their reading achievement increases.
Fostering a love of reading has many rewards! As your children assemble next year we will join in the common purpose of growing in knowledge and faith through the love of books! So, throughout the summer, let us be connected through books in the magnificent world of reading.
Many Blessings for a Wonderful Summer!
