I would like to welcome you to Zulu Nyala. Let me first tell you a little about myself. I have been involved in wildlife conservation in Southern Africa since 1981 and I am the owner of several safari lodges and conference venues in South Africa. These are all top class international establishments. Since 1965, I have been trading as an international wholesale diamond and precious coloured stone dealer based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and am a member of the prestigious “Diamond Club of South Africa”.

My donation to you is: 6 days / 6 nights African photographic safaris for two people each at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge, Zulu Nyala Heritage Safari Lodge, or Zulu Nyala Nyati/ Ndlovu Lodge (depending on availability). All the above are luxury safari and game lodges as mentioned earlier. Airfare, phone calls, personal beverages, side trips, transfers, laundry and personal purchases are no included.

You and your partner can spend 6 days & 6 nights at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge, Zulu Nyala Heritage Safari Lodge or our luxury Zulu Nyala Nyati/Ndlovu Lodge located in our private game reserve where wild animals roam freely. These luxurious settings host elegant colonial or stunning stone-and-thatch hilltop Lodge, brimming with the finest comfort and hospitality. Cool lounges, wide verandas, sparkling swimming pools and tennis court make being “in camp” a relaxing, and pleasurable experience.

We offer a wide variety of activities to suit your particular interests. Should you wish to extend your holiday we can arrange tailor-made tours to suit your individual requirements throughout South Africa. You may include some additional stopovers on your trip e.g.: Sodwana Bay, St.Lucia, Cape Town, Table Mountain, Garden Route, Sun City, Swaziland, Kruger National Park, Victoria Falls, Pilgrims Rest and also Rovos Rail, Blue Train and many more. We can arrange day trips to Sodwana Bay, St.Lucia (World Heritage Site) and surrounding areas for activities like Scuba Diving, Big game fishing in Indian Ocean or Tiger Fishing at the primeval Jozini Lake and Golf excursions at five star resorts.

Payment for our portion of the trip must be received from the selling charity prior to the guest making their travel arrangements. There is no additional cost to the winning bidder unless they wish to upgrade, extend their stay, or bring additional people.

The main language is English. Many of the local people only speak Zulu, but are able to communicate with English speakers well enough to sell things to them.

First, you take a flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. You can choose to stay at Country Manor in Johannesburg at an additional cost. From there, you take another flight to Richard’s Bay. Then, you have the option to either rent a car or pay to have someone from the game lodge pick you up.

Generally, flights cost between $1500 and $1800. They tend to vary based on the time of year and how far ahead of the trip they are booked. However, there are several websites on the Internet that offer plane tickets at a reduced price, so it is possible to fly there for less. You are welcome to use any travel agency.

Africa’s winter months, which are from May to August, are the most appealing time to visit for several reasons. First, the temperature is comfortable. It tends to be in the 70s during the day, and in the 40s at night. Also, most of the grass is dead and the trees are bare. This means that the animals are active and can easily be observed. In addition, the pineapple fields and banana plantations are a worthwhile sight to see.

Upon your arrival at Zulu Nyala, you will be assigned to a host ranger. He or she will be your chauffeur on the game drives, and will be available to answer any questions that you may have concerning animals and activities. There are two games drives per day included in the Photo Safari auction package.

The meals are extraordinary. The auction package includes three delicious meals per day, prepared by the finest ethnic chefs, with an African flavour of course. You will be given two different choices each day for your meat, potato, vegetable, soup, and salad. Also, every meal will include extras, like fresh fruit, cheeses, and crackers.

Zulu is the name of a tribe. Many members work at the lodge, and you can also tour their village if you want. They live in ethnic surroundings, and sell many handmade items. A nyala is an animal with long hair on its neck and back. The Nyala is a very unique species similar to a Kudu. The lodge is known for having a very large herd of nyalas.

At Zulu Nyala, formal clothes are not necessary. We generally recommend that people bring jeans, khakis, as well as a sweater or jacket for the cooler nights. For a very low cost, you can get your clothing laundered at the lodge.
