DISMISSAL
If you must pick up your child at dismissal time, please enter the parking lot from the Rollins Street side and exit onto Moody Street. The alphabet is divided into three sections. Cars A-D and all Kindergarten parents will display #1 in the driver’s side windshield. Cars E-M will display #2 and Cars N-Z will display #3. (These numbers are distributed on the first day of school or you may contact the school office.) If your number is not displayed, you will be sent around and allowed to return only at 2:45 PM. Please park your cars in three or four rows facing Moody Street. The first row nearest the school should be left open for a buffer between students awaiting pick up and the traffic. Wait in your car for your child to be dismissed, not at the door of the school. If you need to see a teacher after school, please park in the lot across the street from the Church and advise your child to wait for you in school.
Dismissal times are as follows:
1. Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 2:27 PM (from the Moody Street door) in order to
give parents time to buckle children into car seats. These cars will be a part of the regular
dismissal traffic and, as such, will not leave the parking lot until the buses have departed.
2. Bus students and walkers will be dismissed at 2:30 PM. Walkers will be dismissed at the
parking lot door and will cross the school parking lot to the Church and follow the walk
beside the Church to Crystal Avenue.
3. Students with last names from A-D* will be dismissed at 2:30 PM. Cars may leave the lot as
soon as buses have departed.
4. Students with last names from E-M* will be dismissed at 2:40 PM. Cars for these students
will not be allowed to enter the lot until 2:40 PM.
5. Students with last names N-Z* will be dismissed at 2:45 PM. Cars for these students will not be allowed into the lot until 2:45 PM.
6. Do not enter the car line prior to your anticipated group arrival. This necessitates special paging for your child and disrupts the normal flow of traffic. If this is a continuous problem, your child will be held inside the school and you will be required to park and enter the school to retrieve your child.
*Students who carpool should go out with the letter of the carpool car.
Permission slips are required if a child is to go to home with another child or take a different means of transportation home. If a note is not provided to the school office, the child is to proceed as usual.
Before and After School Programs begin on Monday, August 30

Little Efforts Can Bring Big Rewards!
St. Thomas Aquinas participates in a variety of programs to earn cash or points that can be used to purchase additional items for the school not covered by the regular budget. Please look over the list below and see how easy it is to help the school earn dollars. St. Thomas Aquinas is registered and participating in the following programs:
Hannaford Helps Schools
From September 5 to December 5, 2010 purchase participating products in the Hannaford’s Helps School program and earn school dollars for our school. Participating products will have shelf tags telling you they will earn school dollars. There is no limit to the dollars we can earn. For every 4 participating products you purchase, earn 3 school dollars. Deposit the school dollars into the collection towers at the Derry Hannafords or submit them to the school. For more information including a complete list of products go to Hannaford.com/hhs.
Box Tops for Education
Last year, our school received $1,096 through the Box Tops for Education program (and since enrolling in 2002, we have received $8,729). This year, our goal is to raise $1,500. During the summer, we received a generous donation of 2,500 box tops for a value of $250. This is a great start to meeting our goal but we can only reach $1,500 with your help.
Box Tops offers three easy ways to earn cash for our school through everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online and purchasing books.
Clip — Clip Box Top coupons from hundreds of participating products and send them to school. Box Tops coupons are worth 10¢ each when our school redeems them through Box Tops for Education. The first submission date for this year is October 31st.
Shop — Shop at your favorite online stores through the Box Tops MarketplaceSM (btfe.com/marketplace). Up to 8% of each qualifying purchase is automatically donated to our school. There is no additional cost to your purchase and many exclusive deals and discounts can be found!
Buy books — Purchase books online at Barnes & Noble through the Box Tops Reading RoomSM. Our school will receive 6% of your new book purchases and 3% of all other online purchases.
One of the easiest ways you can help is to sign up to support our school at btfe.com. You will learn about new and easy ways to help our school earn the extra cash it needs.

FundingFactory® Recycling Program
For several years, STA has participated in the FundingFactory® Recycling Program. The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts. We recycle empty ink cartridges and cell phones to earn new technology equipment. Through this program, the school has acquired digital cameras, software, and many other items.
Last year alone, more than 300 million cartridges were thrown away, while 30,000,000 cell phones were tossed or replaced. We’re alleviating the volume of waste that goes into landfills, while collecting products we need to keep our school running smoothly. The help of our STA families is vital to our fundraising success. Cell phones and cartridges can be dropped off at school or sent into school with the students. Thanks to Mrs. Villanueva, they are then boxed and shipped out.
FundingFactory® also sponsors a business support program, where businesses can help out our school without spending a cent. Prepaid shipping boxes can be sent, free of charge, directly to any business, organization or other facility within the continental United States. Business supporters simply need to load the boxes and leave them for the next UPS pickup.
Go green for your school! Recycle used printer cartridges and cell phones to earn contributions through FundingFactory®.
Shaw’s Gift Certificate Program
Everyone buys groceries; please buy them through our school! We sell Shaw’s Gift Cards that work like cash. You can purchase them on a weekly basis like most of our parents do, or on a monthly basis, so you always have them on hand to shop at your convenience. Shaw’s Gift Cards also make great gifts for companies to give their employees at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Shaw’s Gift Cards are always welcome at food pantries year round and are very much appreciated. Shaw’s Cards are available in $25 and $50 denominations to fit your grocery shopping needs. An order form is sent home every week with the Thursday Notice. Fill it out for the amount of cash cards you want, write a check payable to STA School for the amount of your purchase and send the order and check back to school (with your child) on the following Monday. Your child will bring your Shaw’s Cards home on that Tuesday! Simple! Our current participants find the program very convenient. This program benefits both YOU and our school. How??
Our profit is 5% of every gift card purchased. You receive half (2½%) of our profit back in the form of a tuition voucher. You can use your voucher towards monthly tuition payments through FACTS, before/aftercare charges, the fundraiser buyout, or any other fees incurred throughout the school year (with the exception of the lunch program). Simply send in the voucher Attn: Lynn Kish with a note stating how you wish to use it. On average, our participants are saving between $15 and $25 each month off their tuition bills. As you can see, this program helps the shopper and the school! Join us and give it a try, that’s all we ask. Laurie O’Brien is our parent coordinator. Talk to Laurie or call the school office for additional information.
