SEPTEMBER UPDATE

I hope everyone enjoyed the summer vacation. I know I did as the weather was fantastic. I am refreshed and ready to begin a new school year.

As your child’s seventh grade teacher, my responsibility is to prepare them to be the leaders of St. Thomas and to introduce and polish the skills they will need for high school. As seventh graders, they will be constantly reminded of their 3 r’s – respect for yourself, respect for each other, and responsibility. Their daily schedule will involve only being with me for two classes a day – Life Science and Social Studies. They will daily see Mrs. Green for Math, Mrs. Libby for both Language Arts and Literature, and Mrs. Giberti for Religion. For the specialists they will see Mrs. Rowe for computers, Mrs. Morini for Spanish, Mrs. Sullivan for Art, Mrs. Wood for Gym, and Mr. Cote for music. There is a lot of movement during the day, so it is very important that the students are prepared and know what they need for each class. My goal for the first month is to work on organizational skills and getting the students to think ahead instead of at the last second.  : -)

I am truly looking forward to being with this class, as they seemed so enthusiastic as sixth graders. A lot of transformations take place during seventh grade as the students leave the 'tween years behind and embark into the teenage years. My goal is to keep the “drama” to a minimum and the learning to a maximum. I look forward to being with and helping the students as they make this transition and begin to develop into young adults.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am available through email at sgauthier@staderry.com, by phone at 432-2712, or before and after school. I look forward to another great year with this group!!
