Third graders have been reading a poem entitled "I'm in Charge of Celebrations". In the poem, a girl describes times in her life when she feels moved to celebrate. Students are comparing this to their own lives and recognizing their life celebrations.
Students are also working hard on irregular verbs and learning that changing the tense of a verb can show that an action happened in the past, present, or future.
Students are working on completing books in small groups. They have been practicing writing short summaries of each chapter and will use these summaries to recommend their books to other classmates.
We have also learned about the three branches of government, and the functions of each.
