May

Congratulations to the students in Grade 2 who will be receiving their First Holy Communion this month!

It's hard to believe we're in the last marking period this school year. The following is an outline of what we expect in each subject.

Religion May is Mary's month. We will be saying a decade of the rosary each day to honor Mary. Our next unit is: "We Pray Like Jesus: understanding the Lord's Prayer".

Reading By the end of the month, we will finish Theme 3 in Banner Days, which will also conclude the Language Arts skills and Spelling lists.

Phonics Our focus is on initial and final clusters and blends in words.

Handwriting We are learning and practicing cursive lower-case letters. We'll soon be practicing upper-case letters.

Math In Chapter 10, we will explore geometric shapes, fractions, and probability.

Science We will continue our unit on Weather to identify the kinds of clouds and the weather they bring.

May is always a very special month for the 2nd grade. Many of us will be receiving Holy Communion and we'll be leading the May school mass on Friday, May 16. The May Crowning in front of the school will follow the mass. I hope you can all attend this special day.

Love,

Mrs. Giberti
